  1. Choose Your Pottery

    Browse our wide range of items, either online in our catalogue or by visiting us in-store. From mugs, plates, and tiles to seasonal items and themed creations, there’s always something to inspire your creativity. (Yes, you can paint Halloween designs in July!)

  2. Place Your Order

    Let us know what you’d like by giving us a call, sending an email, messaging us on Instagram, or popping into the shop. Once you’ve made your selection, we’ll arrange payment and set your kit aside for collection.

  3. Painting Time!

    Enjoy a relaxing and fun painting session at your own pace. Each kit includes everything you need: your chosen pottery pieces, a selection of paints, brushes, sponges, a palette, and a painting guide to help you get started.

  4. Return for Glazing & firing

    Once you’ve finished painting, simply return the pottery along with the kit box. We’ll glaze and fire your items to give them a polished, professional finish. Your pieces will be ready for collection within two weeks.

What is included in the Paint at Home Kit?
Each kit includes your chosen pottery piece(s), a selection of non-toxic paints, brushes, and instructions on how to achieve the best results.
How do I order a Paint at Home Kit?
You can order a kit by visiting our studio or calling us directly. We’ll help you select the perfect pottery pieces and colors for your project.
How long can I keep the kit?
Kits are loaned out for up to 7 days. If you need more time, please contact us to discuss an extension.
How do I return my painted pottery for glazing and firing?
Simply bring your painted pieces back to our studio within the loan period. We’ll take care of the glazing and firing process.
When can I collect my finished pottery?
After you return your painted items, they’ll be glazed and fired in our kiln. The process takes up to 2 weeks, and we’ll notify you when your pieces are ready for collection.
Can I purchase additional paints or brushes?
Yes, we offer extra paints and brushes for a small fee. Let us know if you’d like to add these to your kit.
Are the paints safe for children?
Absolutely! All our paints are water-based, non-toxic, and safe for children. They’re also easy to clean up with soap and water.
Do I need to seal the paint myself?
No, we handle the sealing process by glazing and firing your pieces in our kiln. This ensures a durable, food-safe finish.
What types of pottery are available in the kits?
Our catalogue includes a wide variety of items, such as mugs, plates, figurines, and decorative pieces. We update our selection regularly to include seasonal and themed items.
Can I book a kit for a group activity?

We don’t recommend using non-studio paints, as they may not be compatible with our glazing and firing process. For the best results, use the paints provided in the kit.
Are there any restrictions on what I can paint?
Feel free to get creative! However, please avoid adding non-paint items (like stickers or glitter) to your piece, as they can’t be fired in our kiln.

Pottery Painting - How It Works

Creating your own masterpiece at Rainbow Pottery is easy, fun, and perfect for all ages. Whether you’re visiting us for a family day out, a special occasion, or just a bit of creative relaxation, our simple four-step process ensures you’ll leave with a unique and beautifully finished piece to treasure. Here’s how it works:

  1. Step 1:

    Choose Your Piece

    To book a table, there is a £5 studio fee per painter, payable when booking. This covers your table reservation, use of paints, glazing, and kiln firing.

    On the day of your visit, you’ll choose and pay separately for your bisque pottery item. Prices vary depending on the piece selected, with options including mugs, plates, animals, vases, plaques, money boxes, and more.

  2. Step 2:

    Design and Paint

    Unleash your creativity using our child-safe, non-toxic paints. We provide a variety of brushes, sponges, and other tools to help you bring your vision to life.

    Don’t worry if you’re a beginner—our friendly team is always here to assist and inspire. Feel free to bring your own design ideas, or simply let your imagination run wild!

  3. Step 3:

    Glazing and Firing

    Once you’ve finished your masterpiece, leave it with us for glazing and firing in our on-site kiln.

    This process enhances the durability, gloss, and vibrancy of your creation, making it a truly unique, long-lasting keepsake. The firing typically takes around 2 weeks, so your piece will be ready in no time!

  4. Step 4:

    Collect Your Creation

    Your finished pottery piece will be ready for collection within two weeks. When it’s ready, pop back into the studio to pick up your unique work of art.

    Please note: If you are coming to collect your pottery, we recommend calling, texting, or emailing us beforehand in case we are closed.
